The subject

From the Illinois Safety Fire Alliance website, Camp I Am Me “provides the setting for burn survivors to share their common experiences while being able to play and not feel self conscious about their scars. The benefits to the campers–physical, psychological, and emotional–have been enough to inspire a long list of eager volunteers and contributors.” It’s not surprising, then, that Canine Therapy Corps has stepped up to the plate for many years to support these wonderful children.

The shots

The work of animal assisted therapy organizations like CTC proves again and again the power of the human-animal bond. At Camp I Am Me, the therapy dogs launched right into interacting with the children, and the immediate connection and accessible love that is exchanged is what I aim to capture in my photographs.

You can see more photos in CTC’s Picasa album. My photos start halfway through the album and include the caption Camp I Am Me.
