It’s hard for me to believe, but today is the official one-year anniversary of www.joyschmoll.com!
If you’ve stuck with me throughout the year, you’ve seen your fair share of changes.
So what’s a few more, eh?
I won’t take too much time to expound on the effort these changes have required of me. The funny thing is, it was all the more difficult because I didn’t want it to LOOK like I’d made many changes. It’s sort of like when parents puree vegetables and mix them in with chocolate cake batter, just to slip a bit of the good stuff to their children unawares. Only a WHOLE lot harder.
The gist of the changes:
1) The blog IS the website IS the blog
No more joyschmoll.blogspot.com; everything will now be centralized on the original www.joyschmoll.com
2) We’ve moved from Blogger to Wordpress
For a lot of reasons, mostly related to traffic potential and creator control
Maintaining the general appearance and function of JustSayJoy (minus some freshening up) was the most challenging part, and you’ll notice some lapses that I’m still working on. I had to create my own WordPress theme, meaning I had to use php coding, meaning I ended up cutting and splicing and altering code from several existing themes. Just call me the Frankenstein of graphic design.
As such I’d like to acknowledge and thank WebHostingSearch for their tutorial on building your own WordPress theme, Peter From for his Conceditor WP Pix 1.0 theme, and A. Mignolo and Joshua Weinberg for their Zach 990 1.1 theme.
